THE YEAR THAT WAS 2022
2022! As we tentatively emerged from the pandemic, Spring 2022 began with the revival of our hit Feile 2021 show ‘Conversations With Angels’ by the incredible powerhouse that is Maria Connolly on the Main Stage at The MAC, Belfast.
Thanks to the wonderful support of the Arts Council, we were able to once again give this powerful piece a much larger platform as well as give much needed employment to many creatives who had a very difficult couple of years.
An unusually quiet Summer for us as we continue to re-build post pandemic with many factors working against us but ultimately inspiring us to come back bigger and better than ever at Feile 2023. Phase 2 of the advancement of our new space was completed with Brassneck Youth leading the way at our new premises in Hannahstown, with the BNY Summer scheme another huge success, and phase 3 was completed in the Autumn. This new space will give our children and young people as well as professional creatives, access to facilities that will be unrivalled across the city.
In September as always we had the honour of presenting once again, The Mark O’Shea bursary to yet another young person from West Belfast going onto further education as part of The Aisling Bursaries. We would like to pay particular tribute to Marc’s brother Joe who climbed Slieve Donard constantly throughout the month of May to raise the funds to continue Marc’s legacy!
With the Roddy’s still closed, we don’t have a Christmas show this year, but we have an incredible one already in the planning for Christmas 2023!🎅
Our incredible Youth Company BRASSNECK YOUTH continued to go from strength to strength in 2022 with a return to in-person classes with increased numbers and their third annual Christmas Show in our new space for all their friends and families.🧑🎄
We have some really incredible announcements for you in the new year folks with a jam packed, back to live performance calendar. With the exciting announcement of the re-opening of The Roddy’s early in 2023, we look forward to inviting you all back to our spiritual home for some truly amazing theatre from Brassneck!
