The Year that was 2017

January saw our youth company expanded their access to the arts for children and young people when we started ‘Brassneck juniors’ on Saturday mornings which has become a phenomenal success! We also moved to our new home at St. Marys Teacher training college and are eternally grateful for their support throughout the year.

In February, we received Funding from Belfast City Council for the now annual Brassneck Youth Summer Scheme

March saw us begin rehearsals for the arts council funded ‘The Blue Boy Of Glenmore’ by Joe Brennan

Aptly enough on April fools day, Brassneck Theatre Company celebrated our 10th birthday with a party for everyone who has helped us through the years at our spiritual home, The Roddys. Later that month in the Roddys, we hosted the World premiere of ‘The Blue Boy Of Glenmore’TBBOGM before a regional tour, finishing up at the Lyric Theatre. A runaway success, nominated for 6 awards including script, performances, director and best of the arts 2017, lookout for a revival in the near future.

In May, we hosted isosceles theatre company from Scotland with their nod to Celtic’s glorious European cup win of 1967 with the play ‘On our way to Lisbon’ across five regional venues, finishing up in ‘The Devenish complex’ on the actual 50th anniversary. Further help for much needed technical equipment came in the form of a grant from the ACNI.

July saw us launching the annual Brassneck Youth Summer Scheme and in August, we brought back two of our biggest hitters as part of our tenth anniversary celebrations. ‘A Night With George’ played at The Roddys & ‘The Holy, Holy bus’ played at The Lyric for two weeks completely selling out!

In the Autumn, Brassneck Youth were nominated for the Aisling Award for the arts & won the ‘Peoples choice' award thanks to the votes of our followers!

We ended another fun packed year at the Balmoral hotel with ‘A Christmas Night With George’ to packed houses every night and are already looking forward to Christmas 2018!

We would like to thank everyone, casts, crews, our board and our funders who have helped and supported us in this year and in previous.

Most of all our audiences. You are the most loyal following in the country and you are the reason that Brassneck Theatre Company continue to go from strength to strength so from the bottoms of our hearts, Thankyou!!!

We have some very exciting news to bring you in the new year folks so keep your eyes peeled and have a very happy, peaceful and prosperous new year everybody! X
